National Prayer Coordinator Jackie Millar
Let’s pray.
We’ve said or heard these words spoken many times before, haven’t we? Let these two words sink in for a moment...
To whom do we pray? What does it mean to pray? And how is it, that we get the wonderful privilege and responsibility to utter these words?
In my role, it’s wonderful to hear the many things churches are doing to engage their communities in prayer: prayer nights, prayer breakfasts or dinners, using social media apps, prayer courses and prayer bible studies to name a few. So exciting!
It’s also important for me to hear the many struggles churches face in the area of prayer: the “busyness” epidemic (prayer has fallen on the list of priorities), people are also disillusioned with prayer or prayer has become an obligatory part of the meeting agenda... just to name a few. My heart is to serve and support churches through those struggles, as we build a thriving prayer culture in our movement.
We're constantly updating the prayer section here, on the CCCNZ website, to provide you with great prayer ideas, gathered from churches across NZ, so hop on there and have a look. Feel free to contact me and discuss how I can stand alongside your church community in prayer or if there is any other way, I can support you. I look forward to hearing from you.
I'm excited to report that we held our first regional prayer gathering, on August 31 in Waikato. We had people from seven different churches in our movement attending and we had the privilege and joy of seeking God in prayer together. We are planning a similar event to be held in the Auckland region in November.
