SENIOR PASTOR - BIRKENHEAD COMMUNITY CHURCH
Birkenhead Community Church (BCC) is seeking a full-time Senior Pastor with a passion for Christ and a heart for the community.
This role involves partnering with the Eldership Team and Leadership Team to provide spiritual, pastoral, and operational leadership that equips and encourages God’s people, and fosters growth in our church community.
ABOUT US
BCC is a modern, independent church with Open Brethren roots, located in the heart of Birkenhead on Auckland’s North Shore. We are a relaxed, family-oriented congregation within the Protestant Evangelical tradition, with a strong focus on serving our local community.
For over 100 years, BCC has been a place where people worship together, with many families spanning multiple generations actively involved in the life of the church. Today, our congregation numbers around 220, with approximately 120-150 attending services each Sunday.
As an elder-led church, we have a diverse preaching team made up of members and occasional guest preachers. We are committed to biblical teaching, fostering spiritual growth, and building meaningful connections within and beyond our congregation. A key part of our ministry is the Rawene Centre, a versatile facility used by both community groups and church ministries. We envision its growing role in outreach and partnerships with other churches and local organisations to better serve our community.
Our vision, “Loving God, Offering Hope,” calls us to glorify God and share His hope with those around us. Guided by six core values—Bible-based, Christ-centered, Spirit-led, Prayer-driven, Mission-conscious, and Community-focused—we are a healthy and established church with a heart for our local community.
THE ROLE

Key responsibilities include overseeing church ministries, leading Sunday services and the preaching team, providing pastoral care to the congregation, and mentoring staff and ministry leaders to foster spiritual growth. The Senior Pastor will also engage with the local community and other churches to support and serve the wider community.
As a member of the Eldership Team, the Senior Pastor will help to shape and implement the church’s strategic direction and vision. Additionally, the Senior Pastor will work closely with the Leadership Team and staff to manage the operational aspects of the church, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of church activities in alignment with the church’s values and mission.
