Leanne Brown from Crossroads Church in Palmerston North recently reflected on the number of families with young children who she hadn’t seen for a while. She writes:
“I see a handful of families at church on Sunday mornings and I try and message families as regularly as I can by text. But I wondered how else can I facilitate connection?
“I counted over 20 young babies or toddlers in our church family, and was keen to focus on helping these families connect with church and with each other.
“I asked a group of families with littlies up to about 5 years old, who may not know each other very well, over for Sunday lunch, so they could connect.
“They all brought food to share, and we had a super time connecting and they were in no hurry to go home. I was intentional about who I asked and kept the number limited for connection.
“I plan to organise these lunches regularly with different families. I think it was super worthwhile.”
