One of the most satisfying experiences for any elder or pastor is to watch a young person in their church come to faith, begin a journey towards leadership, and then to go on to begin making a real impact for the Kingdom. As leaders, we have a responsibility to not only hope and pray it happens – we need to be willing to be proactive and do all we can to make it happen.
Every church needs to be looking at ways to help young people discover the exciting truth that God wants to use them and then invest time and resources into them so that they might fulfil their potential.
To assist you, CCCNZ is launching FIRST Training, a three-day leadership retreat for young people aged 16-18. We want to bring together young people who want to follow Jesus and are willing to have him use them (even if self-doubt threatens to limit them). We’ll be running three retreats around the country in the coming months and are asking you to approach suitable young people and encourage them to attend.
Of course, there is a cost involved but we want to challenge you to sponsor young people to attend, either collectively as a church or by encouraging people in your church to sponsor individual young people.
