David Smith is the International Director of the IBCM network. IBCM is a global movement working amongst 40,000+ independent Open Brethren Heritage churches in 160+ countries. The heart of the IBCM is to see independent churches and church leaders working together to point more people to Jesus through the gospel from the Bible.
It’s been remarkable hearing of younger leaders from movements like ours in Africa, Asia, and South America coming together to work together to mobilise young people for mission across their regions.
For this reason, it has been a privilege to be last week in the Waikato, Auckland and Tauranga introducing David to various leaders in the CCCNZ movement.

This week I’ve been with GC3 Board Members, Staff and the wonderful Headspace Interns at a gathering of Senior Staff and Board Members from Brethren Mission agencies from the UK, US, Canada and Australia at Lakeland Park in Queenstown. It’s quite profound hearing what God is doing amongst our global movement.

I’ve got to say one of the highlights has been John and Rebecca de Jong from Lincoln Road Bible Chapel, Laidlaw College, and GC3 (Rebecca serves as a board member), opening up the Scriptures from Genesis 1 into Acts, and showing us God’s global cross-cultural purposes and then unpacking the implications from their time in Myanmar.I'm grateful for the contribution of GC3 Board Members Karen Brookes, Emma Stokes, Rachel Woodfield, and Chair Bruce Stormer into the conversation. We are being ably hosted and led by Michael and Carolyn Hanson from GC3.
It has been fantastic to have the Headspace Interns here for the week. They are a credit to their families and church families.
