Christine Renner and Judi Shepherd from Chapel Hill Community Church in Hamilton recently shared about the new prayer space at their church.
Christine writes:
"Early in 2024 there was a growing sense of lament among some at Chapel Hill Community Church about the state of our nation, our world and our planet. At the same time, some of our people were becoming aware of and inspired by the 24-7 prayer movement.
"With a small room available for use the elders agreed to dedicate it as a prayer room, a God Space.
"With a bit of preparation it was ready, and as part of the morning service on 25 August we circled the room—some needing to go outside—and Philip Renner offered up a prayer of blessing.
"People will be encouraged to spend an hour there, being open to what God might have for them in that time. It’s more about listening than talking, about being before doing.
"Resources will be provided to support those unaccustomed to this way of prayer, and some art materials will be provided, to express prayers visually."
