Tuvalu Brethren Assembly celebrated Father's Day on Sunday, CCCNZ Auckland Enabler Richard Fountain shares how blessed he was by the memorable service:
“All the dads, uncles, and grandads participated. They performed several skits and dramas, sang action songs in amazing harmony, and three dads shared their testimonies about trusting Christ as Saviour.”
One item that really stood out for Richard was the public reciting of Scripture by three groups of men in the afternoon programme.
"The first group of seven men dove in reciting their memory verse one after the other. I watched some of the children. They were riveted as they listened. The men were understandable to the kids as they spoke in Tuvalu. In later groups a few recited their Bible verses in English for us palagi.
"The men all came prepared. Is this vital? I’ve never experienced this before or thought that how you share Scripture can have such an impact on an audience. It showed me these guys take the Bible seriously and want to actively lead in their church family.
"The whole service demonstrated something special: ‘And let us take thought of how to spur one another on to love and good works, not abandoning our own meetings, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and even more so because you see the day drawing near.' (Hebrews 10:24-25)."
