Onslow Community Church held their annual holiday programme on Thursday and Friday last week. The original inspiration for the programme came a few years ago after hearing The Anchor Church share about theirs at the CCCNZ National Summit.
Pastor Pete Rhodes-Robinson said they sensed a holiday programme could help them engage with the community by meeting a practical need and at the same time, provide real opportunities to share the gospel and serve alongside each other as a church family.
This year’s theme was “Run the Race”, based on Hebrews 12:1. More than 70 children played games, made crafts, and spent time singing, hearing the Word, and chatting in small groups.
Pete writes:
“Our youth did a great job presenting a couple of dramas and doing puppets, all of which tied into the teaching theme. We were extremely grateful for a team of over 40 volunteers of all ages, and the way everyone served so enthusiastically together."
This year they also held a Friday night family event with nachos, family games, and a short message by Ray Cooper.
