On Saturday, Rutland Street Church (RSC) hosted a Prayer Workshop for their church community, organised by Warren and Maree Frost and led by CCCNZ Prayer Enabler Jackie Millar. RSC extended the invitation to churches in the area, and people from Bryndwr Chapel, Westchurch and Wairakei Road Bible Church joined in too.
Jackie writes,
“The workshop focused on the relational nature of prayer, being spiritually aware, how we connect with God, and how these themes shape our individual and corporate prayer rhythms and practices.
“I loved the questions and conversations as we worked through the sessions and I am excited about the ongoing heart and intentionality to build strong and flourishing prayer cultures in the region.”
CCCNZ South Island Enabler Tim Hodge was encouraged by the churches' commitment to growing in prayer:
“When it comes to prayer, it's too easy to think the answer is 'pray more'. Yet prayer is not performance but communication with our maker. The emphasis was looking into various Bible passages, discussing in table groups, and applying into the life of local churches, all through the lens of grace, not guilt. All came away enthused about prayer as individuals and corporately as local churches.”
