On Sunday 16 June, Pati Leiataua (pictured below) preached his first sermon from Ephesians chapter 6 at Church on Ingestre as part of a sermon share with Pastor Doug Benn.
Doug writes, “Sermon-sharing is something we have done on occasion over the years to introduce a young person to preaching for about 7-10 minutes, with support from a more experienced mentor completing the message.”
In January, Pati and Joel McLeay were supported by Church on Ingestre to attend the week-long Lake Learning course at MiCamp Taupō. Doug says they both came back with a greater hunger for God's Word.
Since March, Pati and Doug have been meeting weekly to read the Scriptures and discuss their application to life. So, when Doug was asked to preach on Ephesians 6 it seemed a natural opportunity for him to disciple Pati towards preaching. Pati enthusiastically accepted the challenge and did well at it. Joel also started with a sermon-share last year with another elder and preached his first full sermon on Ephesians 2 a few weeks ago.
