Riccarton Community Church (RCC) in Christchurch held a Mark Drama production last weekend.
The Mark Drama is a 90 minute, fast-paced presentation with no mics, no lights, no costumes, no props and the only script being Mark's gospel itself. Being theatre-in-the-round it's a very immersive experience.
Last year, RCC Lead Youth Pastor Matt Meek was invited to experience The Mark Drama at Rutland Street Church and could see how it could be a great outreach tool.
In RCC's production there was a cast of 16, mostly from Riccarton Community Church, with Ethan Neal wonderfully acting as Jesus and directed so ably by Claire Bresler (Rutland Street Church).
CCCNZ South Island Regional Enabler Tim Hodge writes:
“The team (pictured below) rehearsed Thursday and Friday nights, and all day Saturday, with the two performances being Saturday and Sunday nights. 190 people came, many of whom left with a copy of Mark's gospel to investigate Jesus more. The team prays that God would continue to draw those people to Jesus.”
