An old boss of mine would often ask "Why can’t creativity and gospel content go together?" I loved hearing about creativity and scriptural content going together on the Sunday before Easter at Auckland Bible Church.
They ran Scripture Reflection Stations, where they cleared out all the chairs from their auditorium into their café space and set up different creative areas to interact with. Lead Pastor Hayden Johns writes,
“We gave everyone a booklet with Scriptural passages, reflective thoughts and actions, to provide the space and time for Scripture reflections.
“Stations included: an empty tomb to sit in and reflect on the fact that Jesus had risen. Pouring water into cups represented us pouring out our lives into different areas and reflecting on being intentional with our life for Jesus. Shredders where we wrote down our sins and put them through the shredder.
“Communion taken under the cross. Blackboard to write gratitude on. A fishing net with small fish to write names of those you would like to pray for to come to faith. A monologue performed of Jesus and his disciples in the garden of Gethsemane. And art, music, collage and more.
“Our ABC community really enjoyed the Scripture reflection time, many loved doing things differently and were moved by the Scripture in a deeper way.”
