For many years the Welcome to New Zealand programme at Eden Community Church has provided an opportunity for migrants to come together and learn English.
Eileen Taylor writes, “I have been helping with Welcome to New Zealand, our English classes, for over 20 years. Since I retired from work at 70 years I have been able to go each week, 13 years ago”.
Eileen continues, “Last week we were quite excited with at least 15 attending. Over the years some have attended Christianity Explored and have come to the Lord. Several are attending church regularly”.
Eileen shares an encouraging testimony, “Two years ago just before Christmas a 17-year-old from the Dominican Republic came looking for friendship. Unknown to me he was also looking into Buddhism. As class was finishing, he came to church. Some of the men met with him. Before he left for Florida with his dad, a few months later, he was baptised”.
We are delighted to read these encouraging stories and see how churches are creatively sharing the gospel and pointing people to Jesus.
