Our vision is to see churches (and the regional campsites and national ministries that support them) working together to point people to Jesus through the gospel from the Scriptures. For that reason, it’s a delight to see two CCCNZ churches in Christchurch, Rutland Street Church and Redemption Church, inviting non-Christian friends and family to the Mark Drama.
Last weekend Rutland Street Church hosted the Mark Drama presentation. This is a 90-minute theatre-in-the-round presenting all of Mark’s gospel with no props, no lights, no mics, and no costumes. The cast of 15 is drawn from local churches, united in their desire to proclaim Jesus in this imaginative and immersive way.
Tim Hodge, CCCNZ South Island Regional Enabler, writes: “Claire Bresler from Rutland Street Church directs the Mark Drama all over New Zealand, in conjunction with the student mission movement TSCF, and it was a joy for her to direct in her home church, with the cast mostly from Rutland Street Church, including Darren Hurst, who do ably portrayed Jesus.”
Tim continues, “Savannah from Fenton Park Bible Church in Rotorua was also in the cast, learning about potential future directing after acting in the production in Rotorua and Murupara through Fenton Park Bible Church in June”.
If you’d like to find out more about what it takes to put on a Mark Drama in your church, contact Tim Hodge or ask friends in other churches that have put on a Mark Drama: Cornerstone International Bible Church in Otago, Te Awamutu Bible Chapel, Raleigh Street Christian Centre, and Agora Church in Waikato, and Fenton Park Bible Church and Lifezone Church in the Bay of Plenty.
