We love seeing churches working together to point people to Jesus, through the gospel from the Scriptures. It was a delight to see representatives from Canterbury churches meet together last Sunday afternoon, hosted by Lawson Scott and Rutland Street Church.
There were 10 churches represented: Bryndwr Chapel, Redemption Church Christchurch, Riccarton Community Church, Rutland Street Church, Springs Community Church, Wairakei Road Bible Church, Westchurch, Rowley Bible Church and Glentunnel Chapel, with Church Street Bible Chapel in Timaru connecting via Zoom.
Tim Hodge (Springs Community Church) was introduced as the new part-time CCCNZ South Island Regional Enabler. Geoff Stark (Westchurch) encouraged regional prayer breakfasts.
Tony Foster (Rutland Street Church) highlighted the growth of NZ Rally both in Canterbury and nationwide. It was great to hear from Matthew Gray (Wairakei Road Bible Church) about work amongst retirees.
Liz Hodge (Springs Community Church and CCCNZ Scholarships Enabler) updated how Matt Meek (Riccarton Community Church) had been so helpful in starting an intermediates’ Bible study group in Lincoln for those with no prior Bible knowledge or Christian experience.
Claire Bresler (Rutland Street Church) described using The Mark Drama as an outreach tool with churches hosting two productions in Canterbury and one in Palmerston North in the next six weeks.
Tim Hodge writes: “Over all that, it was good to meet, chat about how the Lord is working in and through the churches represented, and to pray. We're encouraged and grateful to Lawson Scott for getting us together”.
